We fund world-class research to accelerate life-changing discoveries.

Story

Plant a flower, support the environment,  help grow young minds  and contribute to the fight against antibiotic resistance.

Cardiff  University's  awarding winning Pharmabees project is working with the people of Wales to support essential pollinators such as honey bees and to ensure that Wales remains a green and pleasant place to live (https://youtu.be/pbeSHt4B3hg).

In support of this aim the university  are working with the public to  develop a wild flower friendly seed mix containing plants which attract bees and other pollinators  and can grow in different habitats https://twitter.com/cardiffuni/status/1252902599151562755 . The information generate by this partnership will underpin the development of a seed mix capable of nationwide use.

In addition to encouraging more pollinators we also working with schools  to pollinate young minds and highlight the importance of nature and science to their lives. It is concerning that there are children in our urban centres who have no connection with nature.

This project originated from a  laboratory based research project to identify new antibiotics in honey and native Welsh plants which could be used to treat the antibiotic resistant superbugs which are blighting the lives of many and threaten the future of healthcare. This life saving research underpins all that we do and is at the heart of the Pharmabees  project.

Unfortunately these activities depend on public support to survive.  Please donate as much as you can afford to support this planet friendly project.

You can find out more about the project on twitter and facebook at @pharmabees or via our website at  https://www.cardiff.ac.uk/pharmabees
