Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
It’s 1:30am and the mobile rings. The caller advises that my services are required in Walsall 40 minutes away. Without complaint I put on my gear, fire up the marked Yamaha FJR and head off.
There aren’t many people who would voluntarily leave a warm bed in the middle of the night but when your job is to deliver a box of blood, you do so without hesitation knowing that you are about to do something that could save a life.
I’m proud to say that I am a Blood Biker and a member of the Midland Freewheelers who are part of the National Association of Blood Bikes. Like many of my fellow volunteers (coordinators, riders and fundraisers) from around the UK and Ireland, we give our time freely to help those who aren’t so fortunate, 24/7, 365 days a year.
Covid-19 has had a real impact on the ability for the group to fundraise, yet they have managed to maintain the 24/7 free of charge service to the NHS, completing in excess of 5,700 jobs since the pandemic hit: Not all super heroes wear capes!
Thank you so much for your support.
