London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·

We’re an anti-poverty charity & community of food banks, working together to ensure no one in the UK needs a food bank, while providing practical support for people left without enough money. (Please note we're unable to forward funds onto individual food banks, funds raised here go to Trussell)

Story

Starting with the London Marathon on 2 October 2022, I’m aiming to take part in races totalling 50 hours duration before I turn 50 in August 2023! This will consist of a combination of running, triathlon and adventure races, and (if I stay injury free!) taking part in some challenging endurance events in 2023.

I last ran the London Marathon in 2010 (and finally got in through the ballot last year but got covid!), and this will be my 5th London Marathon.  Approaching a half century I’m not as fast as I was - so I always promised myself that when my PB days were behind me (and they are a long time behind me now!) I would run the London Marathon in fancy dress……..so I will be running a ‘fancy dress PB’ – my outfit will be revealed in a few weeks!

I will be running to support Trussell Trust – a charity that supports a nationwide network of food banks (including West Oxfordshire) and campaigns for change to end the need for food banks. In 2021/22 2.1 million emergency food parcels were distributed to people facing hardship by food banks in the Trussell Trust network, and unfortunately demand is bound to increase due to the current cost of living crisis.

Its a tough time for many at the moment so please don't feel under any pressure to sponsor me, but any donation however small is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,  Phil
