Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Pete sadly lost his fight against Covid-19 on 5th March, aged 58, leaving his Mother Betty, fiancée Lynn, children Alex and Sophie and grandchildren Primrose and Reuben, and his many other relatives and friends.

With over 34 years dedicated service to North West Ambulance Service, Pete was a time-served Paramedic and Operational Trainer and made a difference to countless lives of patients and families. In more recent years he utilised his passion for IT as NWAS Capacity Manager based initially at Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in Broughton, Lancashire and most recently at Greater Manchester’s Regional Operations Control Centre (ROCC).

He cared deeply about how his work could continue to improve the service provided to the NW population, he also enjoyed his work and in particular the lasting friendships he made with his many, many colleagues.

Pete enjoyed the great outdoors, whether it be fell walking in the Lake District touring the highlands of Scotland and Welsh valleys, and in particular had a passion for ski-ing in the European Alps. He had a great sense of humour and could always make everyone around him laugh out loud, he will leave a huge void in many people’s lives. He also made sure he found time every week to catch up with his close friends.

Pete was also known for his community spirt, which he cared
for a great deal and regularly raised money for local charities by various sponsorship challenges. It seems fitting then that his family  have asked for donations for Wigan Infirmary’s Intensive Care Unit in his memory. The team on ICU worked tirelessly for over 7 weeks  treating Pete and the other patients, and their relentless dedication was clear for the family and close friends to see, and greatly appreciated.

Hope you are able to donate to this worthwhile cause in Pete’s memory. (If you do , please consider to check the gift-aid box to enable the charity to receive an additional 25% from HMRC at no extra cost to yourselves).

Thank you so much,

Friends of Peter
