Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am Phil 32 years old and I am competing in an 8-10 mile tough mudder over 25 gruelling and enduring obstacles in Yorkshire 01 August 2021 to raise funds and awareness for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust.

When myself and my wife found out she was pregnant she was rushed to Blackpool hospital within 24 Hours of knowing she was pregnant due to having an ectopic pregnancy. The hospital first said it was all fine on initial examination through ultra sounds then she experienced the excruciating pain. Early morning the next day under 24 hours of finding out she was pregnant, we lost the baby in the operating theatre and i nearly lost my wife at the same time due to it. It was a very frightening and emotional experience for us both resulting in a lot of mental health appointments and issues still affecting us both now, its something you can never just get over in your lifetime. We still think about it to this day and is regularly thought about. Its not something we thought would happen to us or something you think about at all but if it did happen the support is there to help all the family.

We were both unaware of The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust Charity at the time however they support both the husband and wife through these difficult times and had we of known then we would of asked for support instead of struggling and trying to come to bear with a loss and an extremely traumatic experience.

The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust (Reg. Charity 1071811) is a charity we hadnt heard of at the time. An Ectopic Pregnancy affects 1 in 80 Pregnancies in the UK and can and does have an impact on future fertility on women by having major intrusive surgery. It can not be prevented or there is no way of knowing about it until it happens. The EPT Charity believes that the death and trauma related to Ectopic Pregnancies should be preventedor minimisedand seeks to support women and families through this difficult time. The charity also provides Information, Education and Support to medical professionals who treat early pregnancy complications.
