In memory of Prisoners Of War
We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

75 years ago tens of thousands of allied prisoners of war were forced to evacuate their POW camps in Germany and Poland, and march westwards away from the advancing Soviet forces for three or four months, in terrible winter weather and with poor clothing and footwear, and little food. As you can imagine, many of those who survived to be liberated were in a very poor condition.

As the Curator of the On-Line Museum of Prisoners of War, in memory of those men I am undertaking a one-day 50 km walk alongside part of the famous Canal des Deux Mers in France, from the city of Montauban to my home town of Valence d'Agen. The conditions will be nothing like as awful as that march 75 years ago, but nevertheless I hope you will sponsor me and support my effort to raise funds for Alzheimer's Research UK.
