By combining skills and resources, members of Rotary Bridgend make a real contribution to the lives of others. With Rotary's worldwide presence we are unique in being able to reach people in need across the globe; whether it be supporting local community projects, driving life changing initiatives in developing countries or speedily responding to disaster hit regions.

Local charities we’ve supported include those;

• Supporting young people and their families
• Working to end homelessness
• Helping people with chronic conditions
• Getting food to those in need
• Treating people struggling with mental health issues

Working with partner organisations a key international project for Rotary Bridgend is to improve water and sanitation schools in Tanzania. This has included;

• installation of a water tank and improvements to piping in the kitchen and toilets at Mandaka Primary School
• building new toilet blocks at Mandaka Primary School
• rebuilding a toilet block and putting in water piping put to allow for sinks to be installed for hand washing at Himo School

In addition, Rotary Bridgend have purchased many individual and family Life Straw systems for Tanzanian schools. This simple portable system will purify water, making it clean and fit for drinking.

On Saturday 21^st May members of Rotary Bridgend and their supporters will be cycling from Cardiff Bay to Swansea Bay, a distance of around 58 miles. We will pass through, or near to, as many Rotary Club town as possible, enabling them to join if they wish.
