My big challenge · 9 May 2015

All of our JustGiving fundraising has been aimed at supporting our brothers and sisters in South Sudan, where we have had a Diocesan link since 1973. Civil war, a collapsed economy, and failing political institutions have left millions displaced or hungry. The Church is helping where needed most.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.

Am I mad or what... As I approach my 50th a desire (or maybe call it a mid-life crisis) to do something spectacular formed.  So I will do a tandem parachute free-fall skydive from around 12,000 ft over Swindon.  Yee ha...  When you ask?  It is weather dependant but it's all on...

I will be doing my skydive on Saturday May 9th from the Redlands Airfield, Wanborough near Swindon.  Do come and see me jump for glory!!!  I'm not sure of my exact time but I will arrive at the airfield at 8am and my time will depend on volume and local conditions on the day.

My chosen charity are my local churches here in Wiltshire including Avebury, where I live.  We are active in supporting outreach to visitors and our local community; whether that is helping local families in timse of need - when some families literally have to decide between food or heating in winter; actively supporting the Trussell Trust Foodbank, or reaching out to other faith groups and promoting inter-faith dialogue.

Making the churches open to the public is a vital part in this approach and we are proud to be able to share the rich tapestry of our churches with the public.  We would like to make our churches more accessible and by me being able to fundraise will enable toilet and kitchen facilities to be installed.

Note, I am using the Diocese of Salisbury charity number for convenience but the money will come back to the benefice (that is to our churches).

Many thanks for your support and wish me luck...

Phil
