When my four-year old daughter Claudie tries to read to me, her legs start to twitch rapidly after the first page. By the third page, she is pleading for a break so she can rush off to climb on top of her flimsy bookcase. We're lucky to get through 10 words at a time.  She suffers from a severe case of ADHD. There is no cure. No medical support is available until she's older. School is a daily trial. Her brain doesn't allow for sitting still and there are frequent eruptions and accidents. She doesn't learn much, hasn't made any friends and is building an impressive collection of scars from her various injuries. 

On the weekend of 14/15 September, I will be running Richmond RUNFEST, to raise money for Skylarks, Haymarket Media Group's charity partner. The charity works with families who have children with disabilities and additional needs like Claudie. They provide fun, action packed sessions for children, which not only support their development but also gives them a sense of belonging. These sessions also give parents the chance to access a support network, advice and respite. By raising money for this good cause, we hope more children and families can benefit from the work Skylarks provides.Thank you for visiting my page.
