RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

My 15 year old son Rory went missing from a beach in Suffolk in August 2003.  The RNLI searched for him over several days and eventually recovered his body a week later.

I had hoped to take on a challenge in 2013 to mark the 10th aniversary of his death and raise some money for the RNLI. Circumstances meant that this was delayed till 2014 when I completed a mile in the Great East Swim as part of an over 50's programme then the Great North Run.  My supporters donated over £600.

I enjoyed these events and am going again in 2015, starting with an Olympic distance triathlon in Northumberland on 7 June, then the Great east swim 2 weeks later.  September sees the great North run again when I hope to knock 20 minutes off last years time of 2:04
