What an amazing opportunity!

I have been accepted as a Team Leader with Raleigh International to volunteer abroad for 3 months on a International Citizen Service Placement!

I will be living in Nepal with a local family and working with the community on their Livelihood & WASH Projects. Improving health & hygiene, contributing towards positive change around gender and supporting young entrepreneurs from some of the poorest communities to develop their business dreams.

I have always wanted to volunteer abroad, and can't wait for this opportunity - Donating my time to help people less fortunate than me, whilst also leading and supporting a group of younger volunteers - What a challenge it's going to be!

The first part of my placement is a challenge to raise £800 towards the work of Raleigh and their ICS partners.

My first sponsored challenge which I set myself was open water swim in Jackdaw Quarry... IN NOVEMBER! I swam this alone with no open water swimming experience.

My second challenge was a 50km Bike Ride in Dubai through the desert! Which I have recently completed - This was another tough yet amazing fundraising experience.

My deadline is on the horizon! (20th December)

I've decided to do a 10km Run for my final fundraising activity - With the sponsored activities I have done, I will have completed the same distance as an Olympic Level Triathlon!

My place on the programme has already been funded! This is because ICS believes in the positive impact of young people and wants to offer them an opportunity to change their lives and the lives of others. All the funds raised will support all ICS partners to run the programme effectively, always contributing to their vital work.
