28 Challenge for Hearing Dogs

Philippa Tye is raising money for Hearing Dogs For Deaf People

Gino’s Journal: Tails of a Hearing Dog · 29 January 2022

Choose a fun challenge to do during February that involves the number 28 and raise money to help deaf people leave loneliness behind.

Story

In February I will be raising money for a charity which means so much to me, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, through taking part in their 28 challenge.

My challenge is an art challenge. Each day I will post a picture I have drawn featuring my clever, loveable, cheeky hearing dog partner Gino. My 28 drawings will be Gino’s Journal: Tails of a Hearing Dog. Each week will have a theme to show something of what Gino gets up to at work and playtime.

Week 1 - A day at home.

Week 2 - Walk in the forest

Week 3- working Hearing Dog in public

Week 4 - To the beach

I hope my art will help raise money to enable more people to have life changing partnerships just like me and Gino. I also want to raise awareness of what these amazing, life changing dogs do to transform the lives of their deaf recipients.

Every penny I raise will help more hearing dog puppies to be trained, so that one day they can transform a deaf persons life. Hearing dogs are highly trained to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds, such as the smoke alarm, alarm clocks and even intruder alarms and baby monitors. They also provide lots of love, companionship and emotional support, which is really important as many deaf people can feel lonely and isolated. It costs £25,000 to fully train a hearing dog, so the 28 Challenge is a great way to raise funds to train more dogs. Any donation, however large or small, will really help. Thank you.
