Story

Back in May I signed up to run a half marathon, this is not something I've ever done
before but it's for a very special cause...... Amelia.

Amelia is my gorgeous goddaughter who has a rare genetic condition, Angelman Syndrome (AS). This syndrome is currently incurable and affects 1 in 15,000. The symptoms of AS are developmental delay, impairment of motor skills, loss of functional speech and epilepsy

Amelia, is a remarkable 8 year old who faces many challenges but with her grit and determination and with the endless support from her parents and younger siblings she has overcome some mega milestones - walking, riding a scooter and riding a bike. She's an absolute star!

So, on Sunday October 9th I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for FAST UK (Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics UK) which is the charity that Amelia's parents set up in 2016 after Amelia was diagnosed in 2015 when she was 15 months.

FAST UK have committed to fund the Natural History Study with Oxford University for a further 3 years which in turn will facilitate
clinical trials in the UK. This is an extremely worthwhile cause.
