Story

Phil and Kelly Park set out on a extremely challenging mission back in August to complete the distance from the South of the country (Lands End) to the North of the country (John o’groates), virtually, in 12 months. This is a staggering 874miles!!

To spur them on and keep them motivated, what better way than to get friends involved on their walks completing different routes and missions to knock their mile count down.

As Phil and Kelly are from Rugby League families, the story of one true Rugby League Legend has truly touched their hearts just like it has for the whole nation. That story is of Rob Burrow.

Rob, is a retired Leeds Rhino star, he has scored an impressive 196 tries and a total of 1103 points throughout his career with the club through commitment, dedication and hard work.

Sadly, Rob was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 2019, two years after he retired from the much loved sport.

Motor Neurone Disease affects motor neurones in the brain and spinal cord. It eventually stops messages from motor neurones reaching the muscles to tell them what to do. This causes the muscles to weakened, stiffen and then waste. MND affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time.

“First it comes for your voice. Then it takes your legs. It tries to rob you of your breath. But it can’t sap your spirit” - Rob Burrow

Even during the toughest of times, Rob, along with his wife and their family, have shown such great strength and commitment in raising awareness of this awful disease.

Just like Rob, Phil and Kelly have shown amazing strength and commitment to get to where they are now but they need that extra push to be able to complete their mission. Let’s get behind them and raise as much as we can for MND.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
