Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation by running in what will be my first ever marathon on April 21st 2024 (thank you BHF for giving me this opportunity!) and I'm so grateful for your support.

I'm running in memory of my dear friends Fiona B-C, who died suddenly from a heart attack, and Bill M, who died from endocarditis, a life threatening inflamatory condition in the inner lining of the heart, both in 2015; and in support of my dad, Geoff, who is a heart attack survivor. My dad has stents, sort of scaffolding for the arteries, fitted and has to take heart medication every day for the rest of his life. He is one of around sixty million people across the world to develop a heart or circulatory disease each year - that's almost the same number of people that live in the UK. There are around 7.6 million people living with heart and circulatory diseases in the UK.

The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK thanks to the £100 million of research they help fund each year, but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to the funds they raise (from fundraising activities like this one!) that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures - £24, for example, could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist - but every pound helps, so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thank you!

My training is well under way, and I have some fundraising activities coming up which I hope you will be able to join in with, or perhaps you prefer to go straight to making a donation - either would be perfect and very much appreciated!
