PHILLPA'S RUNNING & RITING CHALLENGE! ;)

https://wordpress.com/view/phillipaslondonmarathon4finnleyswarriors.wordpress.com

Back in April this year my best friends beautiful little boy Finnley (my little bestie) was diagnosed with Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma. It's been one hell of a rollercoaster ride for them that I can only imagine what a hell of a 6 months it's been. These guys are my dearest friends and are part of my family, and I would do anything to help support them in both the good and bad times. In true Neely-Hayes fashion alongside going through a horrific battle they have set up a number of fund raising events to support Children with Cancer UK, who have support so may families just like the Neely-Hayes in the horrific battles of childhood cancer. The Neely-Hayes are real life superheroes, warriors and inspirations to us all. #FinnleysWarriors

So here's to why I'm here..........about a month ago I thought I'd apply for a London Marathon charity place with Children with Cancer UK. Almost 4,000 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK. That’s ten every day. Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer. They fund life-saving research into the causes, prevention and treatment of childhood cancer and we work to protect young lives through essential welfare programmes.

Thinking I'd stand no chance what so ever of getting a place I did little to no exercise over the summer (I also hate running!) I ate my body weight in take outs, every unhealthy food you could imagine, pizzas the size of humans,, burgers gallour, Big Macs and drinking way too many bud lights! ..............Then last week totally out of the blue  I received an email "congratulations we would like to offer you a place to be part of the Children with Cancer UK team in the London Marathon, please reply with whether you would like to take up this place"... well there was no way I'd ever say no! And here I am, setting up my just giving page and ordering new running gear to get myself ready...all the gear no idea comes to mind! (I probably should start running rather than doing these things however any excuse for new shiny trainers!)

On top of this Marathon challenge I thought it would be a good idea to challenge myself mentally as well as physically........those that know me will know that the other thing I'm not keen on as well as running is writting! Let's just say it's not my strength.....So I will be writing a blog of my journey/training in the run up to the marathon. Not sure which I will struggle with the most to be honest....but I know I will be able to achieve both. As my mum said to me..."The pain of training and running will pale into insignificance compared to what Finnley, Ali and Donna have gone through and all those children and their families going through childhood cancer"  thankfully I will be sponsored by lemon drizzle cakes made mum Copley to keep me going!

I can't promise an award winning novel and I apologise now for all my spelling and grammatical errors. You also won't get a world record Mo Farah time in the marathon, in fact I might still be running on the Monday so might need to apologise to work as well.......But if you can help share my Marathon training journey and raise awareness of childhood cancer, and if possible can spare a penny or 2 to sponsor me then that would mean the world to me and Finnleys Warriors and be totally worth it!

Thanks everyone and do beep your horn and wave if you drive past me while I'm running (very slowly) the streets of Bedford to train for this little jogging event.
