100 Night Camp · 4 July 2020

Refuge opened the world’s first refuge in West London in 1971. We support thousands of women & children every day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

Story

At the start of lockdown I heard that calls to domestic violence charities were increasing.  We all camped in our garden one night and I decided to carry on for 50 nights as my family said that they would sponsor me to do so.  When I got to 50 nights I thought I would carry on to 100!

I have now reached 84 consecutive nights in my tent and thought it would help spur me on to 100 if people other than my immediate family might sponsor me to get there.

Since I started on 11th April there have been nights below freezing and warm muggy nights, not to mention ant nests, spiders and chickens tripping over the guy ropes!

Please help me get to 100 nights and contribute to the fantastic and, sadly, necessary work of Refuge:

One woman in four will experience domestic violence at some point in her lifetime and two women are killed each week in England and Wales by a current or former partner. Refuge supports around 6,000 women & children on any given day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.By kindly sponsoring me today you are helping to save and change the lives of thousands of women and children escaping domestic violence.

Thank you,

Phoebe xx
