Story
Hello and thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
For the second year in a row, a group of five riders will be taking part in the ABC Bike Challenge 2017. Our team is made of one woman and four men who want to improve the life quality of burned children by rising funds.
We will undertake a challenging bike-ride of 400 km over 5 days till the final destination at the Red Cross Memorial Children's Hospital in Cape Town.
All the funds raised here will go directly towards the Phoenix Burns
Project, a South African group registered as a Non-Profit Organization
(NPO:57-154) and a Public Benefit Organization (PBO:930031313) in South Africa.
The Phoenix Burns Project works to reduce the long-term suffering of badly
burned or scalded children through accidental fires caused by unsafe paraffin
stoves, candles and hot water which are all very common for children in the
impoverished townships of South Africa.
The Phoenix Burns Project distributes the funds on three main aspects: burns
related clinical equipment, long term psychological therapy for the children and their families and educational programs on burn prevention for residents of the townships most affected. For 2017, the main goal is to help with the purchase of a new medical laser (pulse dye laser). This laser is able to work on children’s skin as early as 6 weeks post burn injury leading to better long-term recovery.
We have set the goal to raise £12 000, this amount will be matched by Total
(energy company) making a final target donation of £24 000.
Thank you for sponsoring the cause and/or spreading the word!!
