Phong's Team Kantar Challenge 2018 - Trek To Machu Pichu

Team Kantar Challenge 2018 - Trek To Machu Pichu · 7 October 2018
This is the third time (and likely) the last time I will be trekking with Kantar to raise fund for UNICEF in support of aid programmes for children in Bangladesh, Bolivia, Malawi, and Mauritania. Naturally, people will be asking why I am doing this so many times. Isn't spending money on holidays without charity fundraising obligation less of an effort?
Perhaps. But if our time in this life is limited then why not try to do more with less? Travelling the world and doing good for the community at the same time is exactly that.
No matter how much more money I think I need, truth is I am already living the privileged life. And I believe together with everyone around me, I have the moral obligation to pay forward with that privilege. Just think about it. How differently would you life have turned out if you had been born in a war-torn country? It's all seemingly just a cruel play of dice by fate. And we can do more to even the unequal randomness of life.
We are big people with small problems. And yet, there are tiny people elsewhere in the world with big problems. I am talking about kids who go to work instead of going to school, kids who could not survive childhood due to a lack of vaccination, kids who grew up losing one or both parents to AIDS and kids who lived day to day in the danger of physical and psychological abuse.
In the past 2 years, through my treks in Transylvania and the Great Himalayas, I have raised 3,573 British pounds for UNICEF. And this year, once again, I will be walking together with my colleagues from Kantar offices worldwide to Machu Pichu in Peru from 7 Oct to 14 Oct. I hope that with this last trek, I can raise another 1,500 British pounds and cap off my contribution to UNICEF and children of the world at 5,000 British pounds (of course, the more donations the better for the children aid programmes). Together we will raise funds for the Kantar UNICEF Brighter Futures program which will support initiatives that alleviate and eradicate child labor & abuse in Bangladesh, Bolivia and Malawi as well as supporting vaccination drives in Mauritania.
