Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've never had  a JustGiving page.  As I turn 40 this year, having sponsored many others who have undertaken challenges, I'm somewhat ashamed of that.  But things, and people, change.

I'm doing this challenge for three doyens of my local pub, the Victoria Inn ("Fannys").  By cruel coincidence, each of them is suffering, or  continuing to suffer, with cancer this year.  Each of them has, to a greater or lesser extent, through knowledge, wisdom and experience, but always with a healthy splash of humour, contributed to making my life more enjoyable during the times we have been together - it hardly need be said, but, often with beverage in hand.

It is trite to say that they do not deserve this; no-one does.  However, they do deserve to be recognised for what they have given - and continue to give - through their presence and personality.

So, with knee brace at the ready and with the aural assistance of of Iron Maiden and a healthy dose of Swedish power metal, I undertake this challenge.  All and any donation, however large or small, will go some way to helping others battle cancer.  In giving to that, you will be doing far more than I am.

My Strava profile is public https://www.strava.com/athletes/22340899 - you can see how I'm getting on.  The challenge originates from #NHS1000, which seems apposite, given the care the guys are receiving at the moment.

Oh, and on December 31st 2018, I will buy everyone who donates a drink.  You know where I'll be.....
