Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

My father in law, Ian Williamson, died in 2010 after a fifteen month battle with Motor Neurone Disease. Until I met my wife, I had no idea what MND was.

Over the years I have naturally learnt more about this devastating condition and it makes for grim reading. The medical community still does not fully understand the causes and without greater scientific funding are struggling to offer a solution. MND is always fatal and has no cure. New discoveries are slow in coming - it is shocking that we cannot do more to help those affected with MND.

One of Ian's requests was to help try and find a cure for this disease. The Motor Neurone Disease Association is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland focused on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND. They were a friend to Ian and they lead the struggle to find a cure.

I'm cycling to Paris for me but I'm raising money for them.

London to Paris, 526km, 26th-28th July 2018.
