South Coast Challenge 2021 · 4 September 2021 to 5 September 2021 ·
In May 2020 I went with John (my husband) to A&E as he had severe abdominal pains and scans showed he had a kidney stone plus mucocele of the appendix. The kidney stone was treated via shock wave lithotripsy. For the mucocele it was decided to have an appendectomy and in August John had his appendix removed, as well as the mucocele. Fast forward a few months of biopsies and CT scans and in October it was confirmed John had a rare type of cancer, pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP), which is cancer of the peritoneum (abdominal cavity). On 23 November 2020 John underwent an 8 hour long operation to remove various internal organs during cytoreductive surgery plus HIPEC chemo. Recovery from such major surgery takes up to 6 months and during this time John has been supported by Pseudomyxoma Survivor as he recovers both physically and mentally.
His recovery is going really well (next CT scans in November) and he has convinced me to walk with him 57kms across the South Downs to raise funds for this small charity. Funds raised will help other sufferers to receive the same support that he did. Thank you in advance for your support!!! If you want to read about the walk you can visit:
