Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

This page has been set up by some (slightly mental) Paediatric nurses who work on Pinckney Ward at St Georges Hospital.

We will be jumping out of a perfectly good plane on the 11th April 2015. We are jumping for Samuel's Charity, a wonderful charity set up at the end of 2013 by an amazing little boy called Sam, while he was ill in hospital. The charity aims to make children's stays in hospital better, by providing medical equipment, toys, games, TVs, and other much needed stuff!

Sam was an incredible and passionate little boy, who was diagnosed with a rare type of T-Cell Lymphoma in August 2013. He was treated on Pinckney Ward, and started his charity because he believed that sick children and their families deserved the very best, and wanted to help other children and their families have a more comfortable, and less scary time in hospital.

Sam lost his fight on the 22nd January 2014. He was an inspiration to everyone that met him, and never gave up hope. While fundraising for his charity he got Noel Edmonds to visit the children on the ward, and even skyped Dynamo and Bruce Forsythe from his hospital bed. He had big dreams of making hospital a less scarier place for children, and it's really, really important for us to continue his legacy, and make sure that his dreams become a reality.

So far, the charity has raised over £30,000 which has gone towards Specialist medical equipment, Books, Nintendo DS games and consoles, PS Vitas, Galaxy Tablets, Netflix subscriptions, Heaters, Night-lights, Xmas decorations, and 4x electric cars so kids can zoom around the wards. BUT there is so much more that we could do. With more money we could get parents beds that are comfortable, decorations to make the rooms more homely (they are currently grey and beige and not very aesthetically pleasing!!). We could organise better hospital meals, provide better medical equipment and so much more.

Some children and their families spend months and months on our ward. The money we raise could help make their journey a little bit more bearable at an impossible time.

So PLEASE, dig deep and help us make hospital less scary for the children and families we care for, and help continue Sam's wonderful legacy.

Thank you.
