Story

Our dear friend Jon is one of the fittest guys we know. He loves nature and lives an incredibly healthy lifestyle. He is a young guy, works outdoors, exercises regularly and plays sport.  He also loves to cycle, having recently bought himself a posh new road bike! Jon and his wife Sarah have recently found out the exciting news that they are expecting their first child.

Not long ago, Jon told us the heartbreaking news that he has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Since then, Jon has started his chemotherapy treatment and is being looked after superbly at the Woodlands Centre at Hinchingbrooke hospital in Huntingdon.  The Woodlands Centre is a dedicated unit for treating cancer and haematology patients.  Jon can't speak more highly of the treatment he is receiving there.

The Woodlands Centre is currently seeking to raise £800,000 to expand the unit, and enable them to take on many more patients In a similar situation to Jon.

So, as a way of saying thank you for the care Jon has been receiving and to show Jon that we are supporting him, we have decided to do something for charity, and raise money for the Woodlands Centre.

We wanted to make our challenge both personal and significant to Jon, so we have decided that as Jon is a keen cyclist, a bike ride would be appropriate.

The starting point will be a tiny place called Pinkery in Exmoor.

We thought this would be an appropriate starting point as for the past few years a group of us, including Jon and Sarah, travelled down to Pinkery to celebrate the New Year, so it holds a lot of happy memories for both Jon and us.

The finishing point will be the village of Colne in Cambridgeshire, where Jon and Sarah live.

So this is the challenge we have set ourselves.  Nearly 300 miles in one weekend!

Please give generously to our cause.

Thank you.
