Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Six people are diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) every day in the UK. MND is a rapidly progressing neurological disease, that attacks the nerves that control movement, so muscles no longer work. It can leave people locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk, swallow and eventually breathe.

A person's lifetime risk of developing MND is 1 in 300.

THERE IS CURRENTLY NO CURE.

The Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) need your help to find one.

My friend Pip Tramaseur was diagnosed with MND in 2016. Over the next 5 years this devastating illness took away her ability to walk, it affected her breathing, control of movement in her hands and arms, her speech and her ability to eat.

Pip will always be remembered for her strength, courage, patience and determination to fight this illness. She took careful control of her diet and believed that the cause of MND may have been due to gut bacteria - scientists believe she may have been on to something. MNDA is currently funding research on gut bacteria, which could potentially lead to new treatments of MND. They need your help to make it happen.

Your donation will help MNDA provide support and care for patients with MND, as well as much needed funds for research.

Pip was diagnosed with MND in 2016 and passed away in December 2020.
