Fran’s Marathon Pitchcroft Plod · 13 December 2020 ·
On Sunday 13th December I will be completing a marathon walk around Pitch Croft race course in Worcester with the support of three generations of my family. I will be raising money for CLIC Sargent, a charity that supports children with cancer and their families. I will be walking in memory of my beautiful grandson, Larsen, who lost his battle against a rare brain tumour last December; he was five. CLIC Sargent supported Larsen and his family from the moment of diagnosis to keeping contact with my daughter and son-in-law throughout lockdown. Larsen’s Clic Sargent social worker was called Val and her role included: playing with Larsen in hospital, filling in forms for financial support for my daughter and son in law, explaining procedures, being available for a coffee and a chat to hugging me at Larsen’s funeral. She did whatever was needed.
So, as a mark of thanks to this amazing charity, I will walk 13 times around Pitch Croft to complete the 26 miles. Along the way, I will be joined by Larsen’s little brother, Jesse and my other grandsons, Fraser and Isaiah and my daughter, Fern. Also walking will be his lovely cousins Joel, Kyle, Olivia and Jenson, their parents, April, Katie and Jack aka Mr Universe! As well as my son, Cyrus and nephew, Sam and my sister, Nicky.
I cannot begin to describe how dark life has sometimes been since Larsen’s death. He was a shining light in our family, a brave little boy and so to honour him and remember him we will raise money so that other families can receive this support.
We are determined to raise some money for CLIC Sargent this Christmas, so please support us if you can!
Thank you.
