Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Arthritis is a condition involving inflammation of the joints, but unlike the common conception that it is a disease all it’s own, it is always a symptom of another affliction.
For conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis there is no cure. I know. My mum had rheumatoid arthritis for over 40 years. She was given many pioneering treatments and had many joint replacements. But despite the obvious pain and restrictions she had, she never complained.
500 miles before I turn 50
In June, I hit 50, so, inspired by Captain Tom, I had this crazy idea of walking 500 miles before I hit the big 5-0 and try and raise funds for Arthritis in memory of my mum, who died nearly 4 years ago.
500 miles is 804.682km - so I'm going for 805km (I like round numbers)
... and from today, January 1, 2021, I have 164 days before my birthday. That means I have to walk approximately 5.8km a day. (Thankfully, I got into walking during lockdown in 2020 and was walking 6+km 3x a week, so this should be do-able!)
I'd love to raise as much as I can for Arthritis, but I know times are hard for everyone at the moment, so if you can spare £1 that would help me hit my target of £500.
Arthritis does not just affect the over-65s. Anyone can get it.
