Pituitary Foundation Christmas Appeal · 18 November 2015

We’re The Pituitary Foundation. We’re a dedicated team offering practical, emotional and peer support to everyone living with or impacted by a pituitary condition, to feel empowered and live with a greater sense of wellbeing.

Story

In the words of Cliff Richard's famous song, Christmas is a time for giving. And here at The Pituitary Foundation we hope that you will consider supporting our urgent Christmas Appeal.

Our dedicated staff and volunteers continue to pick up calls and emails around the Christmas and new year period, ensuring that there is a listening ear and information available to people in what may be - as many of you already know - one of the bleakest periods of their life. Some of those affected will feel isolated and alone and some families will be left feeling at their lowest ebb this Christmas. Whatever the outcome The Pituitary Foundation team will be there for them. Please help us keep our support service going by making a vital donation.

Our dedicated team will be there to provide support and information to pituitary patients, their families and loved ones. Parents like Stacey. Who explains how we have been invaluable to her family since her daughter Matilda was diagnosed

“From birth Matilda suffered with Hypoglycaemia and Apnoea, staff battled to save her life as her breathing kept stopping. It was a very frightening time in the unknown. After a period of time in Neonatal Care blood tests revealed problems and an MRI scan confirmed Congenital Hypopituitarism. Matilda is adrenal deficient, growth hormone deficient and also suffers with Hypothyroidism. She will need daily injections and oral medication for the rest of her life and could face many challenge ahead. Adrenal crisis is life threatening and the work the Pituitary Foundation does to raise awareness of this (such as get red flagged campaign) is invaluable.  If it was not for the information provided by the Pituitary Foundation explaining and sharing with family members and other key people in Matilda's life would have been a lot harder. The Endocrine Nurse Helpline provided by the Pituitary Foundation is a lifeline for even the smallest worry, and it's comforting to know it's there. I feel relief in knowing that support will be available for me when the time comes for Matilda to embark on school etc, and further advice and information will be needed for school staff and people caring for Matilda.”
