Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page!

The Big Row (60km each!!), 28 June 2019

Thanks to everyone who's contributed so generously! We raised the target to 1.2k and hit it, but we're keeping the page open a while longer.  Do help if you can!

You may have heard about the University of Sheffield's amazing Big Walk 2019; if not, have a look here:
https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/alumni/big-walk/home. This year the aim is to raise as much money as possible for student scholarships, giving people the chance to come to Sheffield to study. I really wanted to have a go at this, but given distinctly dodgy ankles, I came up with an altogether more painful idea: why not row 37 miles (rounded up to 60 kilometres) on a Concept2 indoor rower instead?! I'd been back in the gym for a few months already, and the Big Row was born...

On the same day as the Big Walk 2019 - 28 June -, my colleague Paul O'Neill and I will be attempting the full 60km each, on campus. We'd be incredibly grateful for your support, online and on the day. I'll post more details as the arrangements are finalized.

Both Paul and I benefited from scholarships of different kinds when we were students. They made all the difference to our degree, and as it turned out, to our future careers. Please help if you can, and be the difference that helps young people realize their potential at Sheffield.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving: they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate, saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
