Story
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many fundraising events have been cancelled and the CF Trust are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income.
Furthermore, schools across the UK are closed. Students in Year 10, who are due to take their GCSE Exams in Summer 2021, are currently missing out on valuable lesson time.
As a UK Secondary Science Teacher, I thought I'd try and help ease both problems by offering some online GCSE Science tuition using Zoom software. For a donation you can book yourself onto a small group online session with me and a few other students in Year 10. I want to keep the group sizes small (no greater than 10 students) in order to allow a more focused tuition experience.
So, how does it work?
- You visit https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/schools-out-for-cf-tickets-103138415778 to book a place and receive your Zoom invite.
- On the day, log into Zoom using your invite link and attend the hour long tuition session.
- Once finished donate to the CF Trust an amount which you think the tuition deserves (most private tuition services charge between £25 - £40 per hour).
- Bask in that "I've just done something good" feeling for an hour or so.
- Book another session using the Eventbrite link above.
- Share widely among your friends and social media followers.
I have scheduled 3 sessions initially:
- Mon 27th April - Biology Tuition
- Mon 4th May - Chemistry Tuition
- Mon 11th May - Physics Tuition
Further sessions may be added - watch this space.
Alternatively, If you don't need any Science tuition you would be more than welcome to donate money anyway.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-limiting genetic condition affecting more than 10,000 people across the UK. It affects the lungs and digestive system and can cause chronic infections and reduced lung function. Currently, half of those with CF will not live past age 41.The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is fighting for a brighter future for people with CF and their families by funding cutting-edge research, driving up standards of care and supporting people with the condition and their loved ones every step of the way.
