PCC fund in memory of George Stephenson

This year the club will be raising funds throughout the season for Young Lives VS Cancer. 5 years ago this September we sadly lost one of the clubs brightest talents and one of the most wonderful young men anyone could have wish to have met. George Stephenson was loved by all on and off the cricket field and is spoken about fondly every week at Plymouth Cricket Club. His brother Harry is still a valued member and his father Phil is at the club weekly watching the games. Many of George’s friends still play at the club.
To ensure we keep his memory alive we are going to have a real drive this season to raise some much needed funds for Young Lives Vs Cancer, formerly CLIC, who George was a huge supporter of and vice versa. The charity works with individuals and families around the time of need and it’s truly inspiring the support they offer. On a weekly basis £1 of each players senior fines and 50p of the juniors playing in the senior teams will go towards the charity. The clubhouse will be kitted out with the charities colours where there will be collection pots and wrist bands/pin badges to buy. The staff and some of the senior players will be wearing Young Lives Vs Cancer t-shirts. We will be introducing a “George Stephenson inspired moment of the season award" at presentation night. It will celebrate a selected moment that a panel will decide which really encapsulates who George was and what he stood for.
