John 's Tour Du Mont Blanc

Tour Du Mont Blanc · 28 August 2019
This year on August 28th, I’ll be flying out to Geneva to take part in a little trek called the Tour Du Mont Blanc. For those who don’t know what that is, it’s a 170 km hike round the tallest mountain in Western Europe, sitting pretty at about 4800 meters. The trek doesn’t go to the summit, but follows a trail round the mountain. The total elevation for the entire expedition is just shy of 10000 meters… if you imagine the summit of Everest is 8848 meters, gives you an idea of the task at hand. It’s going to be so shit, but obviously incredible as well. Full self-navigated, camping in the wild for 10 straight days. I’ll be posting about training progress in the run up as well as whilst I’m out there.
In terms of support, I’ll be getting lots from some of the brands I work with such as MSR, Terra Nova and Osprey. I’ll also be raising money for an amazing cause, Young Minds. Young Minds are an organisation who work with young people, as well as with teachers and parents, to make sure early signs of mental health issues can be spotted. All too often I feel like young people are written off, forcing them to go down roads they may not want to, just because they and the people around them don’t know or understand the struggles their going through. In my opinion, this charity really do amazing work. I’ll get a Just Giving page posted as soon as I get round to setting it up!
