Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are a group of Mums/Dads/Grandparents/Friends taking part
in the Bournemouth Half Marathon on Sunday 6th October 2019 to raise
funds for Poole Hospital Charity and more specifically the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Each of us has our own unique story and NICU journey, from
very complicated pregnancies, life or death deliveries then some fantastic work from Poole neonatal unit to care for our tiny fragile babies during those precious first weeks of life.
In particular, Amy’s twin daughters Elsie and Matilda Pearce who
came crashing into the world after an emergency C section on Christmas Eve - born at 30 weeks and weighing just 2.5lb each. Scarlett and Luke’s daughter Aoife Kemble soon joined the twins with all three of them and they continued their journey together, spending the first 8 weeks of their life on the unit.
Sam and Justine’s son Leo was born 21st May
2016 at full term. It was a long and traumatic birth for Sam and Leo. A few hours after he was born Leo started having seizure type movements so was taken from us to NICU where he stayed for 2 weeks. They tested him for everything and treated him for low magnesium and with antibiotics and eventually the movements stopped and he was allowed out of his incubator. Aside from limited vision in one eye he is now a happy, healthy 3-year-old and big brother to Emme
Poole NICU not only cared for our babies but supported us Mummies, Daddies and families and cared for us during the most difficult months of our lives so please donate generously.
The funds we raise as a team will be donated directly to the unit.
