Hi! My name is Poppy and I'm 9 years old. It's been a really difficult year and so many people and charities have struggled to get by - I've found it quite hard being at home so much, especially the home schooling, but I understand that it's important to stay home and keep others safe. I wanted to do something special to help a charity and when I sat down with my Mummy to chat about which charity to support we listed all the things are are most important to me; our local church, Holy Cross, plays a big part in my life and I have missed our Church family so much. The doors of our church have been closed for a really long time now, especially for all the groups I really enjoy going to with my friends, such as Junior Church, Messy Church, Choir and Holiday club.  These groups are really fun and teach us the importance of Kindness. All these groups are funded by donations and I really want to help to make sure we can keep these groups going when things return to normal. Our church also does a lot for the community, we provided hot lunches over the Autumn half term for any children that needed a little extra help, and many of the grown ups in our church like Fr John (who is really funny!), are giving a lot of time to making sure isolated people have still got a smile on their face, and if someone has gone to heaven, they make sure their family and friends are not too sad. I really hope I can raise some money to help the Church continue this important work, I know there are so many charities that need help and maybe a Church isn't seen as such an important charity, but I really think our town would not be the same without Holy Cross Church and the work that they do. Thank you so much for supporting me - I'm really grateful and I will work really, really hard to complete my challenge... my daddy is helping me to get ready for the big day!
