Story

My name is Dominic Towle and I have worked for
the Royal Mail for 25 Years.  I have been a keen runner for 11 years.
I am committed to this because I am interested in supporting good causes and people with medical conditions and disabilities, especially stroke & brain injury.  It began with my brother Aaron Tring who has cerebral palsy and is permanently in a wheel chair.  By early 2015 I pushed hard to enter the Robin Hood Marathon, not just for myself, I had completed a marathon before, but for Aaron, to push him the whole of the 26-mile route in his wheel chair.

Since 2015 our redoubtable team of 3 (and sometimes 4) have raised over £11,500.00 in total for the good causes. I look forward to this
present challenge with great enthusiasm and hopefully we will make a huge contribution to the Foundation and a significant difference to people in need of excellent rehabilitation and this kind of support.

I am one of the team of 3 Nottingham Park Postmen who run as a team and are running from Edinburgh Castle to Nottingham Castle to raise funds in support of stroke rehabilitation research to help stroke survivors of the future & their families to have a better life through the work of Ossie Newell Foundation Trust.

One in six people will have a stroke in their lifetime. The impact of stroke in the UK takes a toll not just on the patient, but on family and friends and not insignificantly on the financial resources of an already stretched health service. The Ossie Newell Foundation is dedicated to providing funding to support one PhD student per annum at Nottingham University with the aim of raising the level of research in the area of rehabilitation after stroke.
