Story
The International HIV/AIDS Alliance is raising funds from staff to support our colleagues of POZ (Promoteurs Objectif Zéro Sida) the partner in , which was devastated by an earthquake on Tuesday 12 January. The Alliance has now made contact with staff from our partner organisation in Haiti, Promoteurs Objectif Zerosida (POZ), and it is with great sadness that we report a number of staff and gay support group members, who were meeting at POZ’s Centre d’Espoir on the day of the earthquake, are presumed dead, having been trapped underneath the rubble of the building. All three of POZ’s buildings in have been rendered unusable. All money raised will be used to address the needs of POZ staff helping them to rebuild their lives. Many of them have lost everything, so please give generously. Donations are made in Pounds Sterling (American Express is not accepted, but all other major international debit and credit cards are welcome). This site will remain open for donations at least until Friday 19th March 2010, at which point we will ensure any funds raised are given to POZ colleagues. Thank you.
Thanks also to everyone who came to the World Food Day in the Secretariat on 17th February, including all the "chefs" that brought some wonderful dishes from around the world, provoking rumour of an Alliance intranet recipe site! We collected £270 for our colleagues in POZ, which will be added to the final total.
We will provide more updates in relation to POZ when we can.
