Story

I believe it's important to give something back once in a while.

It's so easy to go through life getting caught up in our day to day lives, that we sometimes never give a second thought to people that are less fortunate than ourselves.

At least, I find this to be the case with me.

So every year, I like to choose a different worthwhile charity and spend some time fundraising for them.

This usually involves completing some kind of challenge, and I then organise various fundraising events during the year to help raise money and awareness for the charity I'm supporting

I do this for a couple of reasons:

  1. I get a great sense of satisfaction and enjoyment from pushing myself to achieve this challenge (whatever it may be);
  2. By raising these funds I know that in some small way I have helped to make a difference to the lives of people less fortunate than me.
Does this mean that I'm doing it purely for selfish reasons?

Maybe. But it's also helping out a great cause at the same time, so I don't see any real harm in this.

I find these challenges to be incredibly humbling as it's also an invaluable way to gain some insight into how these charities function, and where your donations actually end up. I sometimes get to meet people whose lives have been directly affected by the work of these charities, and this can be a truly emotional experience - something that stays with you for a lifetime.

Without the kind donations and support given by people like you, none of these charities would exist.

So basically, I'm asking you to consider whether you can please spare a small donation to help with my chosen charity for this year. Whatever you can give is greatly appreciated - and it really does make a massive difference.

And who knows - maybe I have even helped to inspire you to consider taking part in a similar challenge for a charity that is close to your heart.

In any case, thanks very much for reading this page, and once again I truly appreciate any help you can give.

Kind regards,

Paul
