We work on a number of different human rights issues at Amnesty International UK. Human Rights are intimately linked with the climate crisis. As climate targets are missed, the right to life, health, housing, water, and sanitation is increasingly threatened. Climate change disproportionately affects people already marginalized by poverty – people who are least responsible for the crisis. We are calling on governments to take urgent action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to ensure that their efforts do not violate anyone’s human rights. We are also working to highlight the efforts of human rights defenders on the ground, campaigning for their communities affected by climate change.
