Climb The Roof of Africa · 26 September 2019

We’re a social enterprise that supports people to live happy, healthy and hopeful lives, whether they’re: • adults who have learning or physical disabilities, challenges with their mental health or difficulties as they’re getting older; • people in and around the criminal justice system; or • families who’ve been through unsteady times. No-matter who you are or where your life has taken you, we’ll listen, understand and find a way to help you reach your goals.

Story

In September this year, coach’s Simon & Jim will be accompanying 15+ gym members to Tanzania to climb the worlds largest free-standing mountain - Kilimanjaro. This will be an 11 day trek of approx 66km along the Machame Route climbing to the summit of 5,895m. This will no doubt be tough but also spectacularly rewarding.

We have decided to raise money for a local charity that does some unbelievable work in our community.

PSS - The Impact Project - supports children, young people and grandparents living with the consequences of parental problematic drug and/or alcohol abuse and families living with the consequences of parental imprisonment.

These children are vulnerable and are often bullied and left feeling isolated and ostracised. Moreover, they are twice as likely to suffer from poor mental health and they need all the support they can get so they have a chance of leading a normal life.

We will also be taking part in other fund-raising events before we leave for our climb - we'll be taking a group of gym members around the Born Survivor obstacle course and also organising and taking part in a 24 -hour Assault bike challenge.
