Enabling young people on the Isle of Wight the opportunity to have fun, to be adventurous and to learn new skills through participation in sailing and watersports, in memory of Polly Birch.

Story

Polly was a much-loved vet, sailor, mum, wife, sister, daughter, and friend. Above all, Polly loved adventure and wanted to encourage other people to go out and experience the world.

Polly's Fund was set up to offer a special opportunity to Isle of Wight children to apply for a five-day sailing or watersports course during their summer holidays for just £20, enabling them to have fun, be adventurous and learn new skills through participation in outdoor activities.

Looking to the future, Polly's Fund intends to continue this journey by offering follow-on opportunities to the 2018 participants and by offering up to 36 children, aged 10-11, a five-day course in Summer 2019. Participants will be able to choose from a multi-activity week including sailing, kayaking and paddle-boarding, or work to achieve their RYA Stage 1 & 2 Dinghy Start Course.

The aims of Polly's Fund are aligned with those of Primal.Kind: improving the confidence of younger people by giving them opportunities to engage in sporting activities, giving them a chance to get outdoors and breathe the fresh air, and sparking a long-term passion for sports, health, and fitness in every participant. The work of Polly's Fund will make a huge difference to the lives of so many. We at Primal.Kind are delighted to be able to partner with Polly's Fund for #t1120719.

To raise money for this great, local cause, Primal.Kind is taking on a truly insane fitness challenge in July in the Isle of Wight and the surrounding area. Day one: trek through New Forest National Park, swim from Hurst Castle to Yarmouth, Isle of Wight. Day two: run around the circumference of the Isle of Wight. Day three: swim from Yarmouth back to Hurst Castle, run to Bournemouth beach. A total of 110 miles to run and 4 miles to swim over a long weekend in the summer.

Our unusual team includes a Doctor, Videographer, Nutritionist/Explorer, an aspiring Barrister, and an Events Manager. You could say, one of the most peculiar groups of people. However, we saw an amazing opportunity to combine our skills and take on an insane adventure and hopefully spark a flame and step towards the bigger picture in the near future.

Please feel free to follow our journey at @primal.kind and we hope you are able to contribute to our cause and also watch us take on the challenge in July!

Thank you very much,

Johnny, Rad, Rachel, Bruno, and Allen
