Story

About Me

My name is Elizabeth and I am 10 years old. I am cutting my hair and donating it to make wigs.

How it all started

I have been growing my hair for 1 year.  It was my New Year's Resolution last year not to cut my hair for a year.  About half way through the year my family suggested that I cut my hair and donate it to make real hair wigs for people who have lost their own hair, like my Grandma did when she had chemotherapy. I thought this was a great idea but I couldn't break my resolution so I am cutting my hair in January. I hope to donate at least 13 inches of my hair.

My charity

My charity is Cancer Research. I chose this charity because when I was about 4 my Grandma was diagnosed with cancer and she died when I was 5. This was a lot for me to cope with. I didn't really understand how unwell Grandma was until it was too late. She died only a few days after her birthday. I want to give the money to Cancer Research because with that little bit more money they might find a cure for the later stage of cancer so that the unlucky ones who get cancer will be luckier than my Grandma and will live.

Every penny counts.
