The 40 Mile Coventry Way Walk · 18 April 2010

Mary’s Meals is a global movement that sets up school feeding programmes in communities where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education. The charity now feeds more than 2.6 million children every school day and it costs just £19.15/€22.00 to feed a child for a year.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 18th of April 2010 21 walkers from Princethorpe College braved the 40 mile Coventry Way Challenge in aid of Mary's meals. Mary's meals has set up feeding projects in communites that are plagued by poverty. The charity enables children to receive one nutritious meal a day, ensuring that hunger is not a barrier to their education. Mary's Meals currently provides daily meals in schools to over 391,000 children in Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe.

On the day we walked a staggering 886 miles between us which is the equivalent of walking from Coventry to a place called Trondheim in Norway. So far we've raised a fantastic sum of money but we want to do even better. Our target is to reach £6000 in 2010 which can fund meals in a school in Liberia for a year. We may have finished the walk but it's not too late to donate. Remember it costs on average just £6.15 in Liberia to give a child a daily meal for a whole year. That is such a small amount considering what a huge difference it could make.
