Story
On Friday 17th June, weather permitting, all of the Pringle boys (donning kilts, if they have them) from J4-III Form, will be out on the Pentlands completing a 8km/20km walk.
The boys are walking to raise money for The Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue. The team is a charity and has to raise most of the funds it requires itself. It currently takes about £30,000 to cover the team’s operating expenses for one year. Over the last six years, Mountain Rescue Teams across Scotland have received some support from the Scottish Government, although this is not sufficient to cover all of the expenses of running the team and is not guaranteed for the future.

On Friday 17th, please can the boys come into school wearing their kilt (or Merchiston tracksuit bottoms/PE shorts, if they do not own a kilt), Merchiston PE top, Merchiston tracksuit top and good walking socks and boots (that have previously been worn in!!) or trainers. They will need to bring a rucksack with: a water bottle, lots of snacks (the boys will be given their lunch to carry at the start of the day), extra layers, a waterproof coat, a hat and sun-cream. Please can we reiterate that we are a nut free school and as such, we ask that all snacks are nut free.
In celebration of their achievement, we welcome you to join us for a Pringle BBQ at 4:00pm on Pringle Pitch, on their return. We very much look forward to welcoming a team from The Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue for our post-walk BBQ.
We kindly ask that collection on Friday is at 5:00pm for all boys; we know, from past experience, how tired these boys will be and feel that an early collection will be of benefit to them.
We will post on Twitter (@merchijuniors) throughout the day to keep you updated of their progress.
Thank you for your support!
