Story
As some of you may know, my dad, Cecil, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease last December. Sadly, dad passed away on 31st December 2022. He was an incredible man and fought bravely right until the end. We are all determined to complete this challenge in his memory, and even have a few more sign ups as a result.
Motor Neurone Disease, commonly known as MND, is a condition that affects messages from motor neurones reaching the muscles. Over time, this leads muscles to weaken, stiffen and waste; affecting day-to-day activities such as walking or eating. MND is a devastating illness, affecting almost 5,000 people in the UK today and, unfortunately, there is no cure.
The MND Association (MNDA) were amazing in offering dad the best possible solutions to make him as comfortable as possible and improve his quality of life, including providing funding for a new non-slip flooring for a downstairs wetroom. As well as this, they have also been great in providing support for us as a family. So, we decided it was time to give something back.
In April 2023, myself and a merry band of Pringles and friends will once again take on the Allendale Challenge (certainly a surprise for at least 2 of us who swore never to do it again after last time…). This year, we are raising money for this incredible cause.
As we know this is a difficult time for a lot of people, if you are unable to donate, a share of this page would be greatly appreciated.
