Story

Welcome friends & family, thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation's research and I'd be so grateful for your support.

Firstly, I want to share with you my story. When I was 18 years old, during my final year of A-Levels,  my dad suffered a heart attack during a family visit to India. At that time my mum, my two sisters and I were still in the UK. When I got home from sixth form that day my extended family and my mum informed me that they received a phone call to say my dad had passed away from a heart attack. My dad had been recovering from his first heart attack 2 years previous. In that moment my life changed. I became 'the man of the house' and I had to step up, support and care for my mum and sisters. The following day we traveled to India, and as the only son, it was my duty to cremate and lay my dad to rest. From that moment on, my dad's death effected my life's choices from which university I went to, my role in the family to my future aspirations.

I'm now 31 years old and not a day goes by where I don't miss my dad. I am the man I am today because of him. He taught me the value of family, to stay in school and get an education, and to give to others first. My fundraising today is in memory of my incredible, caring and devoted dad. I hope sharing my story with you all will help others in similar situations and the money we raise will contribute towards the amazing research that the British Heart Foundation is conducting for everyday people and families around the world.

So, I have decided in order to raise as much money as possible for a cause that is close to my heart, I will give up something I love...my hair! For anyone that knows me, they know I LOOVVVVVEE my hair, its long, thick and luscious (so much so that it makes women jealous!) and I have been growing it for almost 3 years. I am very protective of it, I don't let people touch it, I keep it tied up in a ponytail and despite family requests and opinions to cut it I have held fast on my desire to keep my hair long. So this for me is the ultimate sacrifice. To make it more interesting, alongside shaving my hair I have also been growing my beard since mid December 2016. On Friday 24th February 2017 I will be shaving off my hair and beard at the same time. I have decided to donate my shaved off hair to the Little Princess Trust which is an organisation which provides real hair wigs for children that have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatments and other illnesses. Please dig deep and give what you can to help me hit my target and beat it!

The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £10 could buy 10 plastic flasks for growing heart cells in, £25 could pay for an hour of research by an early career scientist and £50 would help us fund a brilliant young PhD student, but every pound helps.

I would like to say a BIG WARM THANK YOU to you for taking the time to read my story and donating.
