Priyen's Vision Aid Project - Ethiopia 2016

Priyen's Vision Aid Project - Ethiopia 2016 · 25 May 2016
Many of us in the UK treasure our eyesight and sometimes take it for granted. We have easy access to optical care, from sight tests and wearing spectacles to having cataract operations. However, eye care services are beyond the reach of most people in the developing world. These people are unable to get an education, provide and care for their families because they are disadvantaged by poor vision.
Vision Aid Overseas is an international charity dedicated to transform access to eye care in developing countries. There are 640 million people (10% of the world's population) who live with visual impairment - simply due to a lack of spectacles.
Along with five other volunteers, I will be travelling to Ethiopia in November for a two-week project. We will be utilising our knowledge and skills by visiting local communities in remote villages to provide sight tests, prescribe glasses and screen for eye disease. We will also be providing essential training to local student optometrists in order for them to provide sustainable eye care for the future.
This is a cause very close to my heart, and I would be grateful if you could support and kindly donate towards this worthwhile project.
