As most of you will be aware Sam and I lost our wonderful beautiful mum 8 years ago to Cholangiocarcinoma which is a rare liver cancer that forms in the Bile Duct. For those who had the privilege to meet her you will agree that she was amazing and she had a positive impact on everyone she met!

Her battle with this devastating type of cancer was extremely short, from diagnosis at the end of August to being pain free just 4 months later at the start of January. During that time we were lucky enough to spend one last Christmas at home, together as a family as she was often in and out of hospital regularly over that short period.

We’ve decided to dive into a challenge that will push us both mentally and physically and over 48 hours we will be covering 60km which is into ultramarathon distance, but with a twist. We will be covering 5k, every 4 hours for 48 hours. We were looking to start the challenge at 8am Friday 29th April and finish 4am Sunday. 

DUE TO A PERSONAL TRAGEDY WE WILL BE DELAYING OUR CHALLENGE UNTIL MAY.

We are raising money for AMMF which is the UK's only charity working to raise funds for research into Cholangiocarcinoma.

Their  main aims are to:

- Raise the awareness of Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer), to provide information to those who need it

-To encourage and support specialised research teams in their work into understanding the causes and effective treatments for this ruthless and devastating disease.

-Support specialised research teams finding ways to achieve earlier diagnosis.

-To advocate the patients’ viewpoint in national and international fora

Yearly diagnosis figures for Bile Duct Cancer are less than 2000 year,  between 2016 - 2018 figures for other types of cancers were on averaged at around:

Breast Cancer  - 55,000

Prostrate - 52,000

Lung Cancer - 36,000

Head and neck - 12,000.

£15 could fund collecting and storing a biofluid sample for CCA research

£50 could help to fund research into new CCA biomarkers for early diagnosis

£100 could help to fund research into a treatment to beat CCA.
