Story

I've supported Action Aid's work for over 3 decades because I believe in their excellent work improving the lives of women and girls in the poorest parts of the world. This November, I am taking part in The 137 Fitness Challenge which aims to raise money to support Action Aid's campaign to end violence against women and girls.

Specifically, I've agreed (foolishly) to do 137 situps every day between the 1st and the 30th of November. (How hard can it be?). I hope you will agree to sponsor me so that together we can raise some money to support this vital cause.

I found it absolutely horrifying to learn that 137 women are killed per day by a partner or family member. Donating just £23 (for instance) could pay a counsellor's salary for a month, meaning women and girls who have survived violence have access to crucial psychosocial support to help them recover.

ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. Their dedicated local staff are changing the world with women and girls. They are ending violence and fighting poverty so that all women, everywhere can create the future they want. If you'd like to find out more about the amazing work ActionAid does, please visit their website at www.actionaid.org.uk.
