Story

Welcome to my first ever Just Giving page!

In January 2020 I turned 40. To mark the occasion I signed up for the Paris Marathon. I always fancied the idea of doing a marathon and I realised that if I don't do it now I never will.

I had plenty of concerns around whether I would be able to do it, but one thing I didn’t count on was every marathon everywhere in the world being cancelled! So now I'm signed up for the virtual London Marathon on 4th October. 26.2 miles of solo running will be tough - but it's for a very, very good cause.

I’m running in support of Become, a charity that my wife has recently joined which supports and campaigns for children in care and young care leavers. It is a very worthy cause and one that now needs our support even more. The coronavirus pandemic has affected millions of lives in many ways, and continues to do so. Many charities have seen a significant impact on funding.

88 children enter care every day and this figure is rising. Too often they don't receive the support they need and that's where Become helps. They provide children and young people with a listening ear, advice and the encouragement they need to thrive. They're a small charity with big ambitions to reach more children and young people.

This is the first fundraising event I've done so I want to make a big splash and raise as much as I can. Any donations you can offer will be greatly appreciated. And if you fancy stepping out to support me on the day that would be fantastic - I'll share my route here soon.
