Seven-year-old Arianna was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma, in November 2021. Her family are fundraising £300,000 for Arianna to enrol on the bivalent vaccine clinical trial, which they hope will give her the best shot of remaining cancer free

Story

Arianna is 5 years old, she is a beautiful, kind and loving little girl who has recently been diagnosed with high risk neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that mostly affects babies and young children under five.

Things didn't quite seem right back in July when Arianna said she was getting back pain - something harmless and, 9 times out of 10,
nothing major. It wasn't until in November that Arianna told her mum that the pain had moved to her lower back. The following day, she'd gone to a friend's house after school, playing and having fun like any other five-year-old would. Then Saturday came and she woke up in agonising pain. Arianna was then taken to a minor injuries unit where it was discovered she had a heightened temperature and a possible kidney infection. Abigail’s (Arianna’s mum) maternal instinct kicked in and she felt something didn't add up so, after many trips to A&E and her GP - including three times in one day – a week later doctors had discovered a tumour on her kidney.

On 26th November 2021 their lives changed forever when
Arianna was diagnosed with high risk neuroblastoma. She is being cared for at Great Ormond Street Hospital and has begun a very gruelling treatment plan, which will go on for up to 3 years. Neuroblastoma is very well known to cause relapse and therefore once she has completed this treatment, a trip to New York will be needed to have treatment to prevent relapse. 90% of everything raised will go directly to Arianna & her family.

- 100 children are diagnosed with neuroblastoma each year in the
UK.

- 40% Long-term survival rate for children diagnosed with
high-risk neuroblastoma.

- 40% children diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma that
won’t respond completely to standard treatment, or relapse after it.
